i play in a head to head league..in last weeks matchup.. for whatever reason.. i opted to leave one of my pitching spots empty..i didn't really think twice about it until the mariners bumped king felix in the rotation to this monday and suddenly he was no longer going to get a start.. resulting in my minimum innings situation being a little too close for comfort..(need 27 innings)
fast forward to sunday.. and i was in need of 2.9 innings to have my pitching stats count..i had 3 relievers (gregg, valverde and qualls) available to play and no starters pitching..valverde pitched an inning in his game (1.9 innings to go), qregg pitched an inning in game 1 of a marlins double-header (.9 innings to go) and qualls did not pitch. At this point, I was pretty much done for as far as my pitching stats counting. It wasn't that big of a deal because the only category i was leading in was saves.
Then... in the 9th inning of game 2 of the marlins douuble header,, gregg comes back for his second appearance of the day.. only this time the game was a tie and it was not a relief situation.. gregg threw an inning (my pitching stats count) and gets the win (i tie wins) and his perfect inning lowers my era so that i edge out kodos in that category..
